321 Magazine

321 Magazine is a publication created in 2019 that explores layouts and visual hierarchy while showcasing the attractions of Malacca. For this project, we were each given a copy of the magazine and tasked to visit Malacca to capture photographs that would be featured in the publication.

During our trip to Malacca, we visited various tourist spots to capture photographs that aligned with the publication’s content. My goal was to highlight the beauty of Malacca while being mindful of white space, which allowed me to experiment with layouts and create a more distinctive visual style.

Once I had finalized the selection of photos, I began experimenting with various layout compositions while adhering to a grid system for consistency. From there, I explored the use of different text sizes and color treatments to establish hierarchy and guide the reader’s eye through the pages. I also paid close attention to alignment and spacing to ensure the overall design felt cohesive. Finally, I reviewed the magazine thoroughly to make sure each spread worked together to create a polished and visually engaging publication.
