This app was developed based on design research aimed at stimulating local tourism in response to the impact of COVID-19. The research explored the local tourism landscape, public mindsets, and key challenges faced by the industry.
From these insights, we identified our target persona as young couples aged 18–25. COVID-19 significantly affected Gardens by the Bay, with capacity limits, mandatory pre-booked tickets, fixed time slots, and no re-entry policies reducing visitor numbers. Overall, tourism in Singapore has sharply declined during the pandemic, impacting major attractions across the city.

To address the challenges our target personas face, we created an app to enhance couples’ experiences at Gardens by the Bay. The main issues identified were the lack of clear navigation for couples and ineffective advertising for the attraction.
The app features Pixi, a cupid-inspired character that assists users by answering questions and guiding them throughout their visit. Pixi reinforces the app’s couple-focused theme while providing a friendly, interactive help feature. Additionally, the app offers exclusive discounts, vouchers, and curated events designed for couples to enjoy.
